Well, this afternoon I too joined the ranks of the certified. I passed with an 81% (not great, but not bad either). My test had allot of the questions that have generated considerable discussion. I had the mediaTracker question, the String s.append question, the socket question, the gridbagconstraints question, and others. My advice - read the postings on those questions before you walk in there - especially the s.append question. Much of the difficulty for me was those questions that had 2 or three correct answers - some I found especially tough dealt with equals and ==, plus others that dealth with overloading vs overriding. I also had about 5 fill in the blanks - but I thought those were pretty easy. I studied RHE mainly, but also JXam, Jaworski's, and of course Java Ranch. Thanks for all the help guys! I really want to thank you for offering this site!

Hello Bill and all; This is my first post on the Java Ranch. Congrats to Bill for passing! I am currently preparing for the SCJP exam. I originally had it scheduled for Sept 1, but rescheduled to this December after realizing that I am in no way ready to take it. I picked up and read my first book on Java (Ivor Horton's JAVA 2) a month ago and only last week plowed through Bill Brigden's JAVA 2 EXAM CRAM book). This is my first programming language and I am completely enjoying the process of learning Java! I am at the point of where most of the topics are familiar to me, but I just can't seem to remember all of them for the mock exams....and this is why I rescheduled. I hope to learn and grow here and look forward to participating in the Java Ranch! YeeHaaw! Oh, and Bill...any pointers you could provide would be most appreciated! Many Thanks! -Dale Henning

hmm, i guess the code for aspiring SCJP2's should read:
public static int greenhorn; for(greenhorn=0;greenhorn<71;greenhorn++){ System.out.println("work harder, man!); } System.out.println("HOOOOOO DOGGEY!!!"); heh heh....
