Dear Ajith/Maha Anna, I will like to draw a point on the current style of Javaranch moose saloon. Whenever someone starts a thread and people join in, many a times discussion goes wayward and diverts from the actual problem the topic was posted for. Some people interpret a question wrongly and others just join in and thus the discussion goes to a all together different track. It would be better if for a current thread u people can put a last posting which is sort of last word for it. Meaning ur posting can act like the layout manager which overrides everything and has the last say!
Praveen, I totally agree with you. A lot of times people are just "impatient" to start a new thread and just post unlrelated questions under the same thread. I have made several requests in the past to the users to try to stick to a kind of convention while using the JavaRanch. It is not a rule, but an etiquette wes should all follow inorder to make this a great learning place. I will try my best to chop-off unrelated posts/topic diversions and create new posts. I honestly don't want to "close" any topic, because I think all discussion threads should be open for future enquiries/follow-ups and comments. That's how we all learn But I should emphasize here I may not be lurking around searching for such posts always. It is impossible for you, or me, or Maha or any one person to keep cleaning up eternally. This can only be accomplished if every one here makes sure he follows the rules. I really appreciate your inputs, perhaps I can help fix this as much as I can without becoming a real annoyance Thanks! Ajith ( Paul, Jim, Maha, Tony - please comment! ) [This message has been edited by Ajith Kallambella (edited September 01, 2000).]
