With no other programming experience you may get a trainee position. Employers are looking for more than just basic language ability. Try to get some visible projects done - maybe do some work for a non-profit website.
Some employers care about a CS degree while others are just looking for experience with various technologies.

It depends... once I interviewed an applicant who's a CS graduate *and* an SCJP2, but surprisingly, he still stumbled and fumbled over simple, fundamental questions such as:
public class test {
static void blah(final A a) {
a.x = 8;
}
public static void main(String[] args) {
final A a = new A();
a.x = 2;
blah(a);
System.out.println(a.x);
}
}
class A {
public int x = 0;
}

what's the output of this program?
I'm not an SCJP (yet ), and while preparing for the exam itself, I find myself wondering more and more--how could the guy possibly pass the exam?
Oh, btw, we hired someone who was *not* a CS graduate, and *not* an SCJP, but answered all the questions confidently (and correctly! )
Good luck!!!
