Hello everyone,
Today I passed the SCPJ2 with 91%. My Java experience is around 5 years and test preparation is around one month. The only book I studied for the test is RHE. The page of Maha gave me a lot of information/help. Maha > Thanks a lot.
In almost all mock exams I did, my score was around 90%. Never got 100%. But I was confident that I would score more than 90% in the actual test.
Recently, I did not look the certification threads at Javaranch, so I did not know that the test pattern had been changed. I went to the test center thinking I have to do 60 questions in 120 minutes. Even the confirmation slip, which I got from the test center a couple of days ago, says that the time is 120 minutes. But when I sat in the test, I was very surprised and embarrassed to see the new pattern. It became easy in one aspect that you know the number of options to select in multiple-true-answers questions. But the questions and code were lengthier and the time was shorter than expectations. In 45 minutes, I could only do 20 questions. After that I start running... It was like batting in the last overs of a cricket match when you have a high required-run-rate. I left several questions that I could not understand in one reading. But when I finished the first round, I still had 15 minutes. Those 15 minutes allowed me to do the questions I left in the first round. Anyway, I managed to score 91%. My weakest section was IO (60%).
I would suggest that if you don't understand a question, just leave it and don't waste your time thinking about it. Later, if you have time you can come again. Also, AWT and IO need more preparation than usually suggested by mock exams. Especially, the constructors and signatures of the methods in these two packages.
