Hi,
Today I passed SCJP examination with 93%. I am, ofcourse very happy.
I thank ( actually, I feel this word is not enough to express my gratitude towards Maha Anna, Marcus Green and all others who participate in this wonderful site ) all of you for helping me to get through this exam.

I agree with lot of other SCJPs's opinion, that the exam is of average difficulty. Less theoretical questions. More codes. But not very big codes. Total test average is 10-15 lines. I got one with 30 lines of code. The test seems to be completely based on objectives. No diversions. Questions per topic were almost same as what others got. So, I am not listing them here. Big codes ( average 20 lines ) on threads.
Time is ofcourse, a factor. Utilise every moment properly. If you get difficult questions ( I mean lengthy codes which seem to overwhelm you :-)), mark the provided check box for returning afterwards and go ahead.I think it is logical to spend less time on easier questions, so that you can come back and tame lengthy codes. And yes, the bottom line is stick to basics. Before starting to analyse the code for output think whether code will ever compile.
I am a engineer and have around 10 months of experience in Java. Done a some small projects. I have prepared for around 40 days full time. I have referred The RHE book and Exam Cram from Bill Brogden. They are sufficient. ( How can I ever thank people who have written such beautiful books ? )
I got tensed up yesterday. In the exam center as well, my fingers were shivering on the mouse. But was okay after some time. I just clicked the check box for "for" loop questions and threading questions. I finished all and came back to them. 20 minutes were still remaining. Were enough to finish those questions. In retrospect it was a good decision. I don't know what I would have thought if the result would have been different.
I also feel you should strike a good balance between reading, writing codes and taking mock exams.
Prepare well. Write lots of code. Experiment. Understand. Take as many mock exams as possible. Arrange all knowledge properly in you mind and go ahead. You WILL do it.
I will stop this lengthy monologue. Everything above is my opinion. So do not feel that I am preaching ( I guess there are atleast couple of sentences where you may feel this ). I will be around to learn more and to help if possible.
Thanks a lot.
Milind.

Hi,
Thanks a lot Harpal, Anil, Parag, Subha and Swati.
Swati, don't miss Maha Anna's discussion on threads. You can get that URL from her home page - www.javaranch.com/maha/index.html. I also studied threads from RHE, Exam Cram and Core Java books. I feel if you understand the concept well and write some programs and analyse, you should be in a good position to tackle exam questions.Concentrate on Synchronization.
Thanks,
Milind

congrats milind!!!
I will finish up quickly.
I came to know from the site www.javaprepare.com/changes.html that the time for the exam is reduced to 90 minutes. Is it right?
If you have any preparation material can you please mail me on agassidon@usa.net
congrats again..
sachin.
