I just took and passed the exam this morning. I want to thank everyone, especially the moderators of this wonderful site! This website and all the links, Maha's page, mock exams, Marcus Greens's tutorials/exams, etc. were of tremendous help. The exam was not too bad. I had enough time to review the test. I ended the test with about 10 min. to go. - Lot's of questions on language fundamentals, overiding, overloading, probably 60%. - About 6 questions on threads. None of which were more than 20 lines...actually none of the questions on the exam were more than 25 lines. - 3-4 questions on file/IO, 1 on GC, about three each on AWT, Collections. I studied RHE, Exam cram, and Beginning Java 2 by Ivor Horton(this is good for the basics). I scored between 80 - 87% on most of the mocks I did. Marcus 1, 2,& 3 included. I read a lot of postings here and most of the postings at Maha's site. I started to learn Java over the summer. I took a two a two month course at Depaul Univ in Chicago. I starded to study for the certification in August. I basically want to change careers. I have been doing COBOL for about six years now. My curent contract expires at the end of the year. Hopefully I will be able to find a job as a Java programmer here in the Chicagoland area.. I already have the O'really books on Servlet and JDBC. I will take about a couple of weeks break and then start reading those. This site is more than just a certification preparation site. It's a site to visit in order to learn a lot about the language.
Thanks again everyone.
