Hi guys,
I am just beginning my study towards becoming a SCJP. Knowing that I will have much to learn I took out 2 books out of the library on memory and especially the use of mnemonic techniques.
I am of the impression that utilising these will dramatically improve my ability to retain what I need to. Whilst work is still required it appears from my understanding to be a more effective and enjoyable way to learn.
A couple of hints that I can give is to make sure actual recital ( esp self question taking) takes up a large part of your study time and to review 10 mins immediately after study and then 1 week later. The evidence for both is pretty conclusive. These don't really relate to mnemonic techniques but if anyone is interested there is a good book by Kenneth Higbee and many books by Harry Lorayne and the like which can be located at www.amazon.com . Btw I don't have anything to do with any of the above mentioned ppl or company and suggest u just use the reviews and get the books from your local library , like I do .
What do u think or know about the use of mnemonics?
