Hi everybody,
I want to know who starts the execution of a thread ?
In the Core Java Volume 2 book I read that the start() method calls the run() method to start the execution. But someone earlier in this discussion forum had said that the JVM/OS is responsible for the execution or daeth of a thread.
I am totally confused. Please help!!!

Maybe they meant in the way thread scheduling is handled.

Hi Amit,
The Sun tutorial on threads, says the start() method allocates system resources, schedules the thread and invokes the run() method. When run() actually executes depends on the scheduler.
Hope that helps
