Wow, Ajith..I never even heard some of the special modifiers...ie, native, synchronized, transient and volatile. Is it possible to explain them briefly....or could you suggest some site or book where I could learn more about them. thanks

They are described in detail in Java Language Specification, Section 8 Classes under the subsections Field declarations and Method declarations.
