I propose JavaRanch to open a new forum named Sun Certified Business Component Developer Exam. This exam will cover Sun's new, upcoming exam on EJB, that will be an SCWCD parallal J2EE certifiaction from SUN. May we call it SCBCD?
As activities have already started on the beta exam, we need it as soon as possible.

I'd hate to mark my 500th post by making a fool of myself  but isn't the exam just SCEA 1.4?

Dear Simon, I was also first after filling the form for voucher that congratulated me to apply for SCEA 1.4 beta exam. But after careful observation of the forms and the e-mail got from SUN I am sure that this is a new J2EE certification exam focusing on vendor-neutral EJB technologies.
Don, SUN hasn't offered the exam yet. This is the beta exam. After the successful completion of the beta, SUN will offer this exam officially. I guess that may be at the end of this year. But this is sure to come.
Do you remember we were discussing one year or so earlier on the essence of an EJB certification from SUN in SCWCD forum of JavaRanch? SUN heard our voices, I think?
Better if JavaRanch authority makes a quick query to SUN regarding the status of this exam and inform us accordingly.

Yup thats what I saw to.
When you apply for the beta exam is says something like "Thanks for apply for SCEA 1.4".
SCEA IS vendor neutral. There is nothing in it specific to Sun (yea Java is owned by Sun) you know what I mean - it's not an iPlanet exam.
I guess once we get the syllabus we'll know for sure.

The new forum has now been created as EJB Certification - shortened name suggested by the new bartender, Kathy Sierra. Have fun, everyone...

Thanks for the new forum. The name EJB Certification is more justified as other EJB certification tests like from Brainbench.com may also be discussed here.
