See JLS �3.3 and �3.4. Basically, u000a gets replaced by a newline when the compiler is performing input processing. That means the compiler ends up trying to compile this: char t = ' '; ASCII LF is equivalent to the newline literal '\n', which is what you should use. J.Lacar
