Hi, surprisingly, RHE does not cover sockets and MediaTracker. So does anyone know where I can get the needed information on these two subjects?

Dont' worry!. These are not included in the SCJP objectives. All you have to know is that Socket.accept() and MediaTracker.waitForId() are synchronous methods and block the current thread.
Checkout the API documentation for these classes and pay particular attention to the two methods. That should be sufficient..
Good luck,
