Hi Everybody, I am on AS/400 platform for the past 5 years and I am trying to get a grasp of Java and take up the SCJP exam ASAP. But I find a lot of concepts confusing and difficult to comprehend and apply. Due to this I sometimes lose focus and interest. Could you please guide me ... I am currently reading from Simon Roberts and Patrick Naughton books ... Now both these books have no exercise problems. Where can I find exercise problems? Thanks,

Hi, I suggest reading a basic book first. Sams Teach Yourself Java in 21 days is very easy to read, and get's you up and running pretty fast. My favorite book is "Thinking in Java". It helped me to understand what is happening in java. A certification book which many people like is Mogul. It gets rave reviews. I noticed that many people who do well on the exam use this book. Check out the book suggestions on this site. Also, Sun has free tutorials you can use for. Check it out. I also try to get things cleared up, by posting my questions on this site. That way one doesn't just keep building up unclear concepts. Have fun.
