I'm aware of several books that delve into this.

The one I've gotten the most out of is "Killer Game Programming in Java," by Andrew Davison.

How is this book? I was looking at it in the bookstore last night. It looked good.

Here Is the link to an "early draft" of Killer Game Programing in Java. It also contains some sections you won't find in the book. I don't own the actual book so i don't know what has been changed.

Good luck!

So if your looking for a general book on game programming I'd recommend
"Black Art of Java Game Programming". It's big (900 p.) and has lots of info,
but - it's old.. in other words, if your looking for something more fancy or
up-to date, it's not the perfect book as it's rather old (8-9 years).
