I am about to change the version of JVM that ships with our product and want to ensure that I choose the right version/configuration. Currently, we ship JRE 1.3.0 with Hotspot Server VM 2.0 . Our product is mainly a server and runs with the -server option on the JVM. I've been running for a while on my PC with JRE 1.3.1 and the Hotspot Server VM 2.0 . I got the latter by copying the bin/server directory from my JRE 1.3.0 . This worked OK. I see that there is now a JRE 1.3.1_02 available at Sun, so I guess that I want that instead of JRE 1.3.1. Correct? However, the main question are around Hotspot Server VM. Is there still any reason to use Hotspot Server VM? (Ours _is_ a server application)What is the approved way of getting Hotspot Server VM into a JRE 1.3.x ? Copying the server directory seems a bit nasty. Is Hotspot Server VM 2.0 the latest version? It doesn't seem to have changed for ages, while the ordinary hotspot (in JRE 1.3.1) has had many bug-fixes. Are these bug-fixes absent from the server version?
