It's happened to me many times that when I click the edit link to edit one of my posts, some of the content of my existing post dissapear. I was just editing one post that include some quote tags. I clicked on the edit post, but the quotes were gone. So I had to click the back button, select my whole post, click edit and paste it again in the text box. A bit annoying, I'd say.
Also, when you edit a post, you don't get to see the whole page underneath the textbox, so, if you need to re-read someone else's post you will have to hit the back button, read what you wanted to read, click on the edit button (again), and edit your post. This can be a limitation with UBB, don't know.

I think that the main problem is when [ quote ] blocks and [ code ] blocks appear in the same post. The text between these may get lost. I agree it's very annoying, and I've put some effort into tracking down the problem - but unforturnately the Perl scripts which parse these posts are not very well-orgainzed, IMO, and (a) it's hard to see where the problem is really occurring, and (b) it's even harder to tell whether making some change won't just make the problem worse. I'll look at it some more to see if I can find a solution though.
In the mean time, I just don't use [ quote ] tags except in very rare occasions. I prefer the style below. Because of this I tend to forget the UBB bug is even there, since it never affects me personally. Still, it would be good to fix it, so I'll try.

It's a limitation in the sense that UBB simply doesn't support it, and it would take even more work to change that. Since this seems much less serious than the other problem, and it isn't really even a bug, and it sounds like more work, I probably won't spend much time looking at this one. I recommend using a quality browser like Mozilla or Opera, which allow tabbed browsing. I normally open every post in a new tab, and when I'm done reading, I close the tab. If I want to reply or edit, that page gets a new tab as well. So if I want to look at the previous posts I'm replying to, I just look at the previous tab. It's much nicer than looking in that frame below the edit box and using the scroll bar. I highly recommend giveing Mozilla or Opera a try. Note that tabbed browsing isn't usually the default setting; you may have to enable it from the preferences menu. No big deal. Good luck!

Or, if you're using IE, you can right click on the "edit" icon and open the reply in a new window.

Things have changed. Now deleting a post/thread seems to be a priveleged operation. I suppose this was discussed in MO... Would someone provide a brief summary of why the rules have changed?

it's only temporary because of a "technical" problem we had last week. I am going to reactivate deleting right now.
