Hi friends,

Which the Best book/Redbook for the IBM 399 exam ?
I have seen only one exam specefic book by Cameron .

I am looking for study material for 399 exam. I understand that JSR 168 specs are a must.

Please advise on other study materials

Thanks

Hello There,
I recommend the following Red Book

"IBM Rational Application Developer V6 Portlet Application Development and Portal Tools"

and skip all the chapters that addresses IBM portal Apis and they are quite many

Good luck and have a nice day

How about some good portlet tutorials?

There are a few good multimedia tutorials right here:

Free Multimedia Tutorials on Portlet Development and Administration

For learning WebSphere Portal, there's Programming Portlets: An Introduction Using IBM WebSphere Portal by Joey Bernal, Ron Lynn, Peter Blinstrubas Of course, it's not a certification guide, but it's good for learning the basics.

As far as books go, I like Portlets and Apache Portals.

There's also Experts Voice on Creating Java Portlet Applications, although I do find it a bit winded.

But as I said, check out my mock portal exam simulators and free tutorials on my website. There's lots of helpfus stuff there, and it's a great place to get started.

Cheers!

Your response is muct appreciated.

"Joeboy Joeboy",

There aren't many rules that you need to worry about here on the Ranch, but one that we take very seriously regards the use of proper names. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Thanks!

Thanks

Check out the tutorials. Those'll teach you all the JSR168 API stuff for the exam. You'll still need to focus on PortletServices and some C2A stuff as well. And know a little bit about themes.

Test yourself on the Portlet Dev Mock Exams as well to give yourself an idea of the holes you have to fill in your WebSphere Portlet Development knowledge.
