Themes & Skins replacement without restarting WPS5.1

Hi,

I am using RAD6.0 with WPS5.1.

I want to clearify my doubt as Is it necessary to stop the server If I replace themes & skins at : <PortalSuite>\AppServer\installedApps\localhost\wps.ear\wps.war. If not then is it possible to replace themes & skins without restarting the server and re-running the batch(xml-export) file again?

Need your suggestion because it can highly reduce my waiting time!!
