Accessing URL parameter in JSR 168 portlet

Hi,
Is there a way of accessing URL parameters from an external site in a JSR 168 portlet. I refered to the document

This is primarily for WPS 5.X. I am currently working on WPS 6.0 and am unable to find a solution for the same.
