I am developing Portlet which need to have popup calender ( We are moving our web app from non-portal to portal based on JSR-168. one of the requirement we got is look and feel need to have same so end user won't feel any change from old and new application.) Old application got Pop up Calender? What is the work around for me to have something close by or any AJAX stuff or example you guys can suggest me. Thanks Aaron Raja [ October 28, 2007: Message edited by: Aaron Raja ]
I'd throw a <DIV> tag in the new portlet, and do an AJAX call to the JSP or Servlet that generates the calendar. That way the calendar will pop up quickly on the same screen probably right under the point where a user clicks on 'show calendar' or something.
I'm envisioning this as an application like Expedia where you pick your to and from dates, thus the need for the calendar?
Everyone hates pop-ups. I do concede there are times where they might be needed, but they do cause problems.
With JSR168, just remember that the JSP or Servlet has to be in the portlet application (aka war file) for it to be invokable by the portlet.
