Hi all,

I would like to know about various OpenSource portal API available in market and comparison. Our organization wants to implement portal in which all applications will be deployed containing features like single signon, central access to all data about employees and other applications etc..

Please provide me links for various options available and matured / stable open source portals.

Cheers,

I haven't tried all of portal but in my opinion, Liferay is the best opensource portal and Websphere is the best commercial portal.

Thanks Nhat Nguyen ,

When I tried the demo of Liferay , it runs very slow as it uses Applet technology which requires cilent machine memory.

I have surfed the internet and found some other open source portals, please reply if you have any idea about the following.....

OpenPortal
Joomla
JBoss

Features that we need in our Intranet project are as follows.....
Content Management.
Document Managament.
Customer Relationship Management.
Business Intelligence.
Single signon.

Currently some applications are already in use but we want to provide single place or portal from where all applications can be accessed as per the access rights for that user (Portlets).

Thanks.

Hi Nikesh P Shah,
Liferay doesn't as slow as you think! At the first time, it has to compile JSP to Java ByteCode, so you may feel it 's pretty slowly. Liferay also integrates many technologies: JSR 168, ORM, ... that it's easier for you to extend your system. I think if you are familiar with Liferay, you will love it .
I haven't tried JBoss Portal and OpenPortal so I don't have any idea about them. Joomla is a very good CMS, it can be used to build a large website but if you want to build up a portal that meets your need, I think Joomla is not strong enough.

PS: Liferay doesn't use Applet technology. It uses J2EE technology.
