HttpURLConnection.java will let one do an http.

What if you need to use the ntp:// protocol ?

Yes, I can construct a URL.java - but will that allow me to implement the protocol in my porject ?

The client-side NTP protocol has already been implemented by the Apache Commons Net library. It is probably easier to use an open-source library, than to write your own URL stream handler.

I see, this will be efficient. I unpacked the sources - apparently the group understands the efficacy of correctly commented code.
