rmi with big object?

I want to send a file to server with,at first I use the file object with rmi ,but I read the file to a byte array like "byte[] file" and invocate a remote method like "public void upload(byte[] file)" with rmi, but failed when the file is big.what can i do? only do it with socket?

It sounds like you are misusing the technology. RMI is based more around method invocation, and not uploading files.
However, this shouldn't have caused a problem. Could you give more detail and show your code and more importantly, the error!

I find some mistake in my code,on the other hand there is a parameter of JVM -Xms -Xmx,I solve it,thanks.
