RMI on client machine

What do I need in order to run 2 applications that will be able to communicate on my client�s machine?

                    Client Computer
           |--------------------------------------|
           | App1 <-----------------> App2        |
           |             RMI                      |
           |--------------------------------------|

i know i need the RmiRegistry Running on whichever port ,
but what else ?
