This isn't exactly what we meant when we named this forum "Distributed Java"!

But I couldn't find a better place to ask when I looked over the forum list. Anyway, welcome to the JavaRanch!

Have you looked at SubVersion? It uses WebDAV.

CVS is the most common remote access version control at the moment. It's used to hold archives of popular projects on SourceForge.net among many other places. However, CVS has certain quirks that SubVersion atempts to correct.

I THINK (though the poor English makes it hard) that he? wants to create his own version control software as a true distributed application rather than make use of an existing package written by someone else.

Best tip: don't. Why reinvent the wheel? If you're interested in working on this kind of software, why not contribute to the Subversion project? See http://subversion.tigris.org/ .
