Help me, please!

I want to write a client/server application. How can i execute the server program in the remote server by using the client program? Ex: The client send a string "Server -start" then the server program begin execute and when the client send a string "Server -stop" then server program will terminal. Can the java program language to do that? And how? Please help me! Thank you for reading this question!
