Client setup

I am asking a general question..
before running a client in RMI environment do we have to set up the environment (setting up permission etc).
I downloaded some example code and tried to run.
Some of them did not give any problem...but some of them giving exceptions.
(classnotfound etc).

Thanks in advance for any input..
