I want to implement a back button, but I have a page that can be rached from several pages. How have others managed going back a page in the history. Obviously using the browser back button or using JS to go back doesn't work. Is there an appropriate way to return to the previous page?

Which version of JSF are you using? I think it's fixed in 1.1 version as mentioned in thislink :
