selectonemenu not selecting the backbean value

I have this problem, my object instructor is getting the correct activity value from the h:selectonemenu when is inserted to the database, but when I restart the server and consult the instructor data it renders the default value, ignoring the 'real' value. I even put an ouputText element to see the expected value and it is correct, but no with the selectonemenu.

Notice the <hutputText, it does print the correct value but the <h:selectOneMenu doesn't.

It's a strange behavior...
