When to calculate calculated fields?

I have a bean, half of whose properties are bound to input controls in a form and the other half are calculated from the values of the first set of properties. I'd like this bean to have a "setCalculatedProperties" method that I'd call after that form is posted. But how can I do this is JSF?

There is no emoticon for what I am feeling!
