JSP 2.1 and deferred expression

Hi,

I need some help clarifying this issue here. My understanding is that JSP 2.1 carries with it a UEL that is done to make the language similar with JSF and that the main updated is that we can now use deferred expressions. Does that mean I can use deferred expressions on a JSP page without even having the Faces Context declared?

Can anyone show me an example of this? some like:
