Yes to all of the above. The bigger differences lie in the fact that serious .Net work can only be done on a Windows server. A lot of major shops run Linux and/or Solaris on their webservers.

Anyway, as you know Microsoft has a way of stealing others ideas and putting it out, but only working on Microsoft OS run machines.
.Net is nice is many ways, but to me will always be behind to Java technologies, because they wait for Java to have it, then they steal it. Just Kidding, they do come up with some things on their own.
