ExceptionInInitializerError

I am trying to create a view to create/edit some values but getting some strange error.

I use one file for creation and edit since the input fields are the same anyway. If i remove the value attribute from the input field i can submit the form but with the conditional statement i get an error :-(

Any ideas what the problem is here?

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
