I have the scriplet below at the top of a JSF page. How can I access the reportLocation variable inside of a JSF link element? I guess what I'm asking is what is the JSF syntax to access the reportLocation variable?

You might want to check my reply to David Salaete: http://www.coderanch.com/t/214714/JSF/java/Calling-managed-bean-method-parameters

It's not one of my clearest explanations, but the short message is "You shouldn't code logic on JSF pages". Put the value in a backing bean, then reference the backing bean.

Your question where you're using JSTL in JSF has the same answer. JSTL doesn't work that well with JSF.
