I have been using JavaRanch for quite long time and I'm just curious to know what kind of process is used to select the bartenders or sheriffs.... Something like the candidate should stick with one and only one forum and help others or the decision is up to the current bartenders and sheriffs? One more thing that I want to know is whether the donators possess the same authority as the bartenders or sheriffs... Or they are just like the normal ranch hands with different names.... Just curious....

Try a search of this forum using "become bartender" or something like it and you'll get a a gazillion previous answers to your first question. Donators don't get any special authority - they get special appreciation (and a different name if they choose to - and have donated enough).
