Dear authors,
Is there anything in particular that
has to be taken care of in the configuration
of hibernate if a database table has BLOB or
CLOB datatypes?

Using Clobs with Oracle and Hibernate
Hibernate 1.2.1 comes with support for Clobs (and Blobs). Just use the clob type in your mapping file and java.sql.Clob in your persistent class.
