This week's book giveaway is in the OCAJP 8 forum. We're giving away four copies of OCA Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide and have Edward Finegan & Robert Liguori on-line! See this thread for details.
I have a small app that I wrote w/ Hibernate in the DA layer. I recently had it working with mysql 4.0.x and now that I'm trying to run it on a different system with mysql 4.1.x it is throwing an exception:
I haven't changed this app at all...other than using mysql 4.1 vs. 4.0...I haven't even changed the driver (which may be the problem?)
The environment is the same...the user is "root" and the password is blank...a default mysql installation (local development box.)
I'm stumped...unless it's the driver? Hopefully someone recognizes this issue...it's entirely new to me and all I could find on google was references to Spring...which I'm not using at all.

Wow, getting the same thing when I switched over to Postgresql 8.0 (which also worked before.)
I moved to Ubuntu from Gentoo...something's gotta be different system-wise that's disallowing db connections!!
