Problem Special character handling

Hi Friends,
We are using the hibernate to store the date in the Oracle DB.
While trying to insert the special character like Copy right symbol() in the Clob data type we come across the (java.sql.SQLException: No more data to read from socket) Exception. Pls tell me some solution for it.

Thanks in advance,

I can think of two possible problems.

Oracle databases can be configured to either deal with 8-bit characters or 16-bit characters. If you are trying to insert a 16-bit character into an 8-bit database you could run into problems. Check with your DBA to see how your database is configured.

Another possibility is that it has nothing to do with the character per se. Did you hit this problem while inserting a long string into the clob? If you use JDBC types other than CLOB you'll hit a wall (I think around 32K) when reading or writing data.
