Could someone please explain to me what is meant by dehydrate / rehydrate when referring to Java objects in the context of data persistence. I'm working with hibernate, and Stripes in developing a web application. These frameworks do a lot under the covers- such as this dehydrate stuff! So I'd like to understand it. What I think, is that it probably refers to the state of a JavaBean- ie populated or not populated. Is this correct?
