Design patterns and best practices are a running thread throughout the book.

The book develops a few simple JSP/Servlet examples, just to demonstrate how Hibernate might be used in a web based application, be it Struts, JSF, Seam, or any other Java framework. In one of the examples, we use an open session in view pattern to avoid any LazyLoadingException objects from being thrown. It's an important strategy for developing web based applications with Hibernate.
