Integer class : cast problem

Why does the following code require a cast ?
Byte b = new Byte((byte)16);

Hi Angela ,
The Byte class has two constructors
Byte(byte value)
Constructs a Byte object initialized to the specified byte value.
Byte(String s)
Constructs a Byte object initialized to the value specified by the String parameter .
There is no Byte(int value) constructor .
