What is the current status of Web Services Inspection Language (WSIL)? It was proposed by IBM to complement UDDI to overcome some of the issues with UDDI.
If the existing UDDI, SOAP, and WSDL specifications already cover all aspects of the basic Web Service architecture, how does WSIL fit in?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Latha

SOAP and WSDL seem pretty well established but I don't think that highler level abstractions are all that firm yet. There seem to be a lot of other acronyms floating around - like WSIL, ebXML and a whole alphabet soup of others.

I'd like to quote a few words to answer your question:

The truth is that there still exists a chasm between service providers and service consumers. That's exactly where the Web Services Inspection Language (WSIL) fits in.

WSIL is not meant to be another specification to replace UDDI rather a solution before UDDI matures. In fact, the UDDI and WS-Inspection specifications address different sets of issues in the discovery problem space, and should be viewed as complementary technologies.
There are two articles intended to explain the difference between two. See this from webservicesarchitect and this from IBM dw.

This looks similar to some things I had seen from Hewlett-Packard although they called it "introspection".
