as so many others i would like to qualify for the freebie book, since we are thinking about using some webservices internally.
Externally we might not use it because of security issues. This book would be very handy.

Well, the way to qualify for a book giveaway is to ask interesting questions or give helpful advice.

Is this a good book for starting a web service for my company? They send me to an IBM class which didn't help at all because I didn't know XML, so this week I'm taking an XML class. Would this book help me get started on their Web Service?

Without knowing much about the book being promoted this week, except for its name, I'd say you should grab another book to start with.
As the title implies, the book concentrates on Web Services Security, not Web Services as such. Take a moment to search Amazon for books about Web Services and read the customer reviews.
Some good ones are:
- "Building Web Services with Java" by SAMS (I've got this one and I'd highly recommend it)
- "Java Web Services" by O'Reilly
- "Developing Java Web Services" by Wiley & Sons

As far as books are concerned I went through a recent book from WROX, titled
AXIS - Next generation Java Soap, it was pretty nice, easy to understand for a starter as well as a complete sample has been presented,
may be starters should concentrate on it, and a lot of sample examples are available in Java webservices Development pack - a free development from sun site.
Can any one tell me advanced books for Web services with tomcat + AXIS ???
Happy Coding !!!
