Could you please shed some light on UDDI and its future?

Thanks in advance.

UDDI is a bit of a gray area. I think there are definently applications for the use of UDDI and ebXML, but I don't see the Universal Busienss Registry being very successful (that's the free public one hosted by IBM, MS, and others). There are some kinks in the usage model that need to be worked out, but within an enterprise or consortium it can be useful for publishing services.
