I am new to web services. Could any one help me in building my first "Hello World" kind of web services?

Could you please tell us whether you have any preference on choosing the product, i mean "Apache Axis" OR "IBM websphere" OR ".NET" etc.,

I would prefer Axis.

Once you download & install Axis, just look at some of the examples.They are easy & you can get to know the basics from them.Or just read the tutorial that comes along with it.

I found this tutorial useful when i got started.
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
