Can anyone point me to a good tutorial on passing complex parameter objects and complex return types (and creating associated descriptors) with either Axis 1.2 or JBoss-ws4ee?

Well, the best thing I'd recommend, personally, is starting with Sun's tutorial on Web Services (found at and follow that with reading the documentation for the two environments. Once you learn the basics, learning specifics like deploying to Axis is simple with the instructions in-hand.
