well i understand that soap falls in web services, but what i would like to know is how and where to apply soap and how to start from scratch for the same. please suggest some online books to read for the same.

Hi,

SOAP is XML based protocol used to send requests and receive responses to any application that can talk xml and understand soap protocol.
