Hello All-

I'm wondering how Web Service is different from RMI ? I appreciate any explanations.

Thanks

RMI is based on the JRMP protocol. The client and the server must be a Java implementation.

WebServices is based on open standards like SOAP protocol, WSDL, XML etc. The Service provider and the client can be in running on any platform/ langauge.

Performance in RMI is better than webservices because XML is used in WS.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
