WDSL editor question.

Hello people...

I am currently using IBM's Rational Software Dev't Platform's wsdl editor in creating my wsdl file for my web services. It's my first time to use this particular IDE and it's wsdl editor and also a novice in creating wsdl files for web services.

Now my question is, if I want the return data type of my method's reponse to be of type java.util.ArrayList, how do I set it up? I couldn't find a type ArrayList or Collection in the element definition types of the wsdl editor. Should I create my own data type if I wanted my return to be a Collection? I am also encountering problems if I wanted my return type to be of java.util.Date.....I set xsd: DateTime and xsd: Date in the editor but when the classes are generated.....the return type became of Type java.util.Calendar instead of java.util.Date.

Can anyone help me on this? I'd appreciate any form of help.

I am at the exact stage you are with WSDL. Complete newbie, so your question is a chance to learn myself:

This article has your answer about collections.
The date thing is confusing to me. The JAX-RPC specs say that Java Calendar and Date both map to datetime. However, several places say that datetime only maps with Calendar. (You can switch Calendar to java.util.Date easily enough in code...)
