Thanks Ulf and all JavaRanchers , finally I was able to create a LdapWebservice on Tomcat4.1 using Apache Axis1.3.

Kewl! What is the design made of? Is it like basic authentication using ldap(i dont know if my question makes sense)?

Yes Angeles, a basic Authentication,and an Insert,Update,Retrieve and Remove .

Though the logic is simple, it was confusing for me to use Axis because of some classpath hiccups.

I did the same thing with Sun Application Server8.1, and tried to migrate it on to Tomcat, but couldnt because of compatability issues.

Finally I got Axis running, and it was really simple.
